This relaxed networking event is the perfect opportunity to share ideas, spark collaborations, and enjoy good company after a full day at the Symposium.

The evening will also feature special moments recognising our community’s achievements, including the 2025 Lifestyle Medicine Awards Event, Fellowship Ceremony and ASLM Accreditation in Lifestyle Medicine (AALM) Graduation. Friends and family are warmly welcome to attend and celebrate alongside us.

Extend your experience beyond the Sydney Symposium with a series of engaging, small-group workshops held the following morning. These interactive sessions will delve into the symposium theme – Lifestyle Medicine in Action: A Future Worth Creating – with a practical focus on policy and practice innovations in Lifestyle Medicine.

Designed to foster collaboration and applied learning, the workshops offer a unique opportunity to explore real-world strategies for system change, prevention, and whole-person care.

Dr Michael Axtens | Unintended Harms, Intentional Solutions: Transforming the Way We Use Language in Healthcare

We live in an increasingly political world, but are we part of the problem? In this session you will be invited to reflect on the use of language in interactions both clinically, with peers and generally in society, with an emphasis on how inadvertently we can exert power over others and accidentally oppress.

This will bring up some controversial considerations and the aim is to stimulate and to move towards a better, more collaborative world.

Presenters: Dr Michael Axtens and Dr Louise Sterling

Witness the action with this highly interactive, hands-on workshop where you can watch or experience a real-time Shared Medical Appointment (SMA) in motion. Guided by an expert panel, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in live demonstrations, open Q&A, and a mock SMA designed to show how group dynamics, confidentiality and common challenges are handled in practice. As in a real SMA, participation is not expected, just come to listen if you like.

The session will be flexibly adapted to the wishes of the audience so everyone leaves with clear answers, new insights and practical confidence to bring SMAs into their own work. You are especially invited to bring along questions that intitiate an exploration of potential challenges.

Lifestyle Medicine has the power to reshape health – but only if it’s measurable, visible, and valued. This session unveils a practical roadmap to embed Lifestyle Medicine into clinical systems through Value-Based Health Care. Explore how this is actioned as part of the 2025–2027 ASLM implementation plan, see the first pilot in action, and learn how digital outcome tools like eHealthier enable clinicians to measure what matters most—real-world wellbeing, function, and quality of life.

Annual General Meeting 2025

ASLM Members are warmly invited to attend the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), to be held in person at The Royal Exchange of Sydney, 1 Gresham St, Sydney, NSW 2000 and livestreamed during the Sydney Symposium on Saturday 6 December 2025, at 1:15pm AEDT.

The meeting will run for approximately 45 minutes.

If you are unable to attend, you may appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf. A formal Notice of AGM and proxy form will be emailed to all Members.

Please note, you are welcome to attend the AGM even if you are not participating in the Symposium.

All Symposium sessions on Saturday 6 December will be recorded and made available to all attendees (both in-person and online) via the ASLM website within two weeks of the event.

“Lifestyle Medicine in Action – A Future Worth Creating” Symposium is an RACGP, ACRRM & AMA CPDHome approved CPD activity. It provides 8.5 hours of Educational Activities (EA) and 2 hours of Reviewing Performance (RP).

The symposium is also approved for 20 points in the ASLM Fellowship program and 8.5 hrs Attendance CPD towards ASLM Accreditation.

All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.
