Meet Dentist & Accredited Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner – Dr Alexander McDonald
Dr Alexander McDonald is a general dentist and ASLM Accredited Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner and Fellow, with a special interest in the airway, microbiome and metabolism. His approach to health aligns dentistry with the broader principles of Lifestyle Medicine, with a strong interest in collaborating across health disciplines and highlighting the role lifestyle can play in health and wellbeing.
Alex will also be joining ASLM at LM26 in Hobart, where he will take part in the final session panel.
What is your background?
I am a general dentist with a special interest in the airway, microbiome and metabolism.
How did you come to Lifestyle Medicine?
Lifestyle Medicine was recommended to me by a colleague, and I found that its principles aligned closely with my own philosophy and approach to health.
Why did you choose to join ASLM?
I chose to undertake Fellowship and ASLM Accreditation as a formal certification pathway to further my education and connect with like-minded individuals who share an interest in Lifestyle Medicine.
How has, or how do you envisage this influencing your career/direction?
I envisage my Fellowship and Accreditation creating further opportunities to collaborate with other health professionals and to highlight the power of Lifestyle Medicine in supporting health and wellbeing.
What advice would you give to other health professionals who are considering completing ASLM Accreditation?
