As ASLM marks its 10th year and celebrates 20 years of Lifestyle Medicine in Australasia, we are thrilled to announce a transformative new initiative: The Professor Garry Egger Scholarship Program.
About Professor Garry Egger
Professor Garry Egger is synonymous with Lifestyle Medicine in Australasia. His pioneering work has transformed how we address the underlying causes of chronic disease, and inspiring countless practitioners. While Garry has recently retired due to ill health, his dedication and vision continue to guide ASLM and the broader Lifestyle Medicine movement.
To honour Garry’s extraordinary contributions, this scholarship will carry forward his legacy by equipping healthcare practitioners to bring Lifestyle Medicine to the communities that need it most.
What Does the Scholarship Include?
Each year, the program will fund one enrolment in the ASLM Accreditation in Lifestyle Medicine (AALM), valued up to $7,500 AUD per scholarship. The scholarship includes:
- Full access to the ASLM Accreditation in Lifestyle Medicine (AALM)
- One year of ASLM membership
- Conference registration
The scholarship aims to support practitioners, particularly those working in underserved or remote communities, to deepen their expertise in Lifestyle Medicine and drive meaningful change.

Who Can Apply?
The scholarship is open to healthcare professionals across Australasia. Priority will be given to:
- Practitioners serving rural, remote, or underserved communities.
- Those addressing significant public health challenges.
What Are We Looking For?
Applicants will be assessed based on:
- Commitment to Lifestyle Medicine principles: Demonstrated passion for promoting preventative, holistic approaches to health.
- Community impact: Proven ability or potential to create meaningful change through Lifestyle Medicine practices.
- Alignment with ASLM’s mission: A clear dedication to advancing Lifestyle Medicine in Australasia.
How to Apply
Application Timeline- Applications Open: November each year for the February ASLM Accreditation in Lifestyle Medicine (AALM) intake.
- Deadline: Applications close approximately two months after opening.
- Applications will be reviewed by a dedicated scholarship committee comprising ASLM executive team members and board representatives.
- The successful recipient will be notified via email and formally recognised at the ASLM annual Lifestyle Medicine Conference.
Recipient Commitment
To maximise the impact of the scholarship, recipients are required to:
- Provide a one and two year follow-up report detailing how the scholarship has influenced their practice and community.
- Participate in ASLM activities, sharing insights to inspire others.
