The movement for change
Be a leader of change
Thank you for your support of the movement of Lifestyle Medicine.
ASLM is honoured to represent the voices of those health practitioners in Australia and New Zealand who are leading the push for lifestyle interventions to be embedded in mainstream medicine. We acknowledge that with this role comes a great responsibility to not only hold the hard-won ground that Lifestyle Medicine has covered to date, but to aspire to a growth that some may call “idealistic”. But we are driven by the critical need to improve patient outcomes, practitioner satisfaction, provider satisfaction and reduce cost in delivery of health care and we know the evidence supports our passion and idealism, so why not dream big?
“A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” (Margaret Mead)
As ASLM President, Dr Sam Manger says, “How we live can heal us, or harm us. To come together and create a movement, one that empowers the individual, one that leads to healing of both the patient and the health professional and connects us both as a community and with the natural world is what drives us. This is foundational, first-line medicine, it is not “alternative”, and it partners perfectly with the amazing advances in pharmaceutical and procedural medicine.”
We are asking you as a supporter to help us raise awareness of the research and clinical application of Lifestyle Medicine through one of the following ways:
- Grow the movement and become a member
- Refer an eligible health practitioner
“I would encourage any health practitioners from all streams of practice to consider incorporating Lifestyle Medicine into their professional development and practice.” (Dr Kelly-Anne Garnier, ASLM Member)
