Introducing ASLM’s 2025-2027 Strategic Plan: A Bold Vision for the Future

The Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM) is proud to unveil its 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, a forward-thinking blueprint that will guide our mission to integrate lifestyle medicine into mainstream healthcare and transform the way chronic diseases are prevented, managed, and reversed.
This plan is the culmination of extensive consultations with members, stakeholders, and industry experts, as well as insights drawn from our 2024 Member Survey, the ASLM Insights Report, and strategic reviews of our previous three-year plan. It was formally shaped during a dedicated strategy session on 1 February 2025, where the ASLM Board and staff came together to refine our vision and strategic priorities.

How We Got Here: A Journey of Growth and Reflection

Over the past three years, ASLM has evolved significantly, overcoming challenges such as resource limitations, visibility concerns, and the need for updated educational content. Recognising these gaps, we embarked on a comprehensive review, engaging our members and partners to define a stronger, more impactful path forward.

Key areas identified for growth include:

  • Expanding ASLM’s membership to create a more inclusive, engaged professional community.
  • Enhancing education and professional development with cutting-edge research and practical applications.
  • Strengthening ASLM’s advocacy efforts to influence health policies and integrate lifestyle medicine into healthcare systems.
  • Ensuring financial sustainability through diversified funding and strategic partnerships.

Our 2025-2027 plan builds upon these insights, setting clear objectives for the next three years while ensuring ASLM’s continued relevance and leadership in lifestyle medicine.

What’s Next? Our Strategic Priorities for 2025-2027

Our new plan is structured around four key strategic pillars that will drive ASLM’s work:

Engage – Membership Growth & Engagement

  • Achieve a 30% increase in active members.
  • Expand professional resources, networking events, and community engagement.
  • Improve communication channels and digital outreach.

Educate – Education & Knowledge Expansion

  • Enhance online learning modules, conferences, and certification programs.
  • Develop specialised training in high-demand areas such as mental health, diabetes reversal, and digital health.
  • Strengthen partnerships with academic institutions to expand education offerings.

Advocate – Leadership & Policy Influence

  • Position ASLM as a leading voice in healthcare policy.
  • Strengthen relationships with policymakers to drive systemic change.
  • Expand media presence to improve public and professional awareness of lifestyle medicine.

Sustain – Financial Sustainability & Operational Excellence

  • Diversify revenue streams through grants, sponsorships, and innovative funding models.
  • Invest in digital tools to improve member engagement and service delivery.
  • Streamline operations to ensure long-term sustainability.

A Roadmap to Success

The ASLM 2025-2027 Strategic Plan is more than just a document—it is a commitment to action. With clear goals, strategic initiatives, and a renewed focus on impact, we are confident that ASLM will continue to lead the way in advancing lifestyle medicine across Australia and New Zealand.
We thank our members, stakeholders, and supporters for their invaluable contributions in shaping this vision. Together, we will drive lasting change in healthcare and empower communities to lead healthier, longer lives.
