Professor Boyd Swinburn at Lifestyle Medicine 2018

The Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine is proud to be a member of the recently formed Health Coalition Aotearoa (HCA); an umbrella organisation comprising of 25 health groups and 55 health professors committed to reducing harm from tobacco, alcohol, and unhealthy food. Currently, unhealthy diets, high BMI, tobacco, and alcohol contribute about one third of the overall preventable health loss in New Zealand.

We were very fortunate to be joined by Professor Boyd Swinburne, HCA Interim Chair, in August at Lifestyle Medicine 2018, and are delighted to now share with you his insightful presentation, ‘Systems thinking for obesity: From the individual to global’, from the Saturday morning Plenary.
