Courses and workshops
Courses and workshops can be undertaken as stand-alone education opportunities to support professional development. A certificate of attendance is provided for ASLM courses and workshops for CPD purposes.
One of the pre-requisites for Board Certification is to obtain 10 hours of in-person CPD in Lifestyle Medicine, which can be achieved by attending any of our workshops or the annual conference. Similarly, these activities all earn points towards the ASLM Fellowship making a Lifestyle Medicine workshop, course or conference registration a logical starting point.
Board Certification in Lifestyle Medicine contributes 480 points (one third) towards the ASLM Fellowship and demonstrates competency in Lifestyle Medicine, augmenting your clinical or public health practice in the prevention, management and reversal of chronic and lifestyle-related diseases. Medical Doctors and Master/PhD level health professionals are eligible for certification through the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine (IBLM), whilst Degree level health professionals are eligible for certification through ASLM.
Board Certification is an excellent pathway for those seeking an international level of recognition for their knowledge and skills. It also provides a more accessible pathway for those who may not yet have significant prior learning to contribute towards the Fellowship, but are keen for recognition of competency in the field of Lifestyle Medicine.
ASLM Education Pathways are sequential, however all components can be undertaken individually or as part of a larger educational plan.
The following diagram attempts to illustrate how attending workshops or the conference can lead to Board Certification and the Fellowship, or can be undertaken in their own right.
